Sports Medicine & EMS Collaboration

COTS strives to ensure a culture of safety in all aspects of our work.  The collaboration between first responders and sports medicine professionals is key to ensuring best outcomes for the ill and injured athlete and spectator. 

The following disciplines developed the guidance document:  Operational Considerations for EMS Medical Directors & Sports Medicine Providers at Events:

• Sports medicine departments from OhioHealth, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Mount Carmel Health System

• EMS medical directors from the Columbus Division of Fire, OhioHealth EMS, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Center for EMS, the Metropolitan Emergency Consortium, and COTS.
